We all know December becomes one of the most hectic months of the year. It is a time we say we must catch up for a Christmas drink or we must catch up before Christmas. While it is so lovely to hear those words, next year I might start in early November so I can get through to December not so worn out. Lucky I have not been working full time so I have been able to catch my breathe.
So let’s get started on what happened this month:
The Royal Luncheon
Tickets for our next event went on sale and it looks like it is going to be a very successful event. With every milliners table sold out in 2 days, as an organiser, I could not be more excited. Can’t wait to see what they are all busy making for autumn. Lucky for me I get a sneak preview.
So if you are interested in attend, make sure you get a ticket and not leave it till the last minute. I promise it will be a FABULOUS day.
Villiers Day at Royal Randwick / Thoroughbred Events Australia Xmas Drinks
Thoroughbred Events Australia took a group of 30 people to the races for Villiers Day. It was extremely busy running from outside, to owners & trainers bar to Chairman’s lounge and the stables. But we managed and it was great to see everyone having a great time which is what racing is all about.
Paula Duncan’s Charity Cruise
I attended Paula Duncan’s charity lunch on board a beautiful glass boat and the entertainment was outstanding. All money raised goes to the Special Olympics which is truly a wonderful cause. We had the most glorious day on Sydney harbour and it was noted we were dancing at the front of the boat to the best music that the rat pack had produced. So great food, wine, good cause, great friends and fun was definitely the order of the day. Well done Paula.
Cinderconi & Ellebeedee
I am very excited to say that I was able to get a group of friends together and leased 2 horses so far.
Both horses are now heading to a race in the not too distant future. Cinderconi (a filly from Nicconi) had it her first and second barrier trial. She is showing some ability so its fingers crossed.
Our other horse Ellebeedee (a filly from Al Maher) as a 2 year old looks like she is heading to a barrier trial early next year. She is very clever and she needs to move forward as she has too much attitude. So it is all systems go for this little filly too.
Northside Riding Club 2016 Awards & Christmas Garden Party
As founding director of The Thoroughbred Club, I was very proud to attend Northside Riding Club 2016 Awards & Christmas Garden Party where we were invited to partake in their award presentation. I presented 3 outstanding achievement awards to 3 successful off the track thoroughbreds. The recipients were over the moon and it is truly rewarding to present these prizes to continue awareness and promotion for the thoroughbred so they can continue a career after racing.
Birthday Wishes to Richard Davey
Birthday wishes were in order for our good friend Richard Davey and the party was LONG!!!! Richard is always at our events always trying to tell a tale or two. He is a dear friend and we did everything he wanted to do lunch, champagne, cocktails and even a punt on the horses which we WON!!!!
Farewell to Margareta Baxter
I said good bye to a beautiful lady Margareta Baxter. Margareta never missed any of my events. She was full of life and was all class. She was my good friend, Julie Steel’s best friend. Together they travelled the world, caught up all the time for a cup of coffee (or wine), and always came to my events together. Margareta suffered from cancer which eventually took her life after fighting for 2 years. We still all lunched during those 2 years as Margareta never complained. Her kindness and love for life will always be admired. This is one human who would have been given a beautiful set of wings to fly away immediately. Go in peace Margareta, you lived a worthwhile life and I for one will always have a smile every time I think of you.
Not to forget we said good bye to legendary singer George Michael and actresses Carrier Fisher and mother, Debbie Reynolds it was all so incredibly sad.
There were plenty of catch ups – dinners and drinks have been overflowing and I thank all my dear friends for all the invites.
Right now, I would love to take this opportunity to wish all my dear followers and friends, a safe and wonderful NEW YEAR. As the time is ticking away to midnight, I truly wish you all the happiness that this amazing country has to offer. Love and be loved.
I look forward to writing to you in the near year and catching up with all those I missed in the lead up to Xmas.
HERE IS MY 2016 – thank you to all my friends who helped make this year so memorable.
