Wow, what a day this turned out to be on 15 October 2016. Going to Sydney races at Royal Randwick over the carnival now takes on a different meaning.
In the most amazing company of Craig Barbour (a very dear friend) we decided to EXPLORE Royal Randwick. Racing is not all about racing now. Over carnival time, it is about enjoying a day out and getting to try fun experiences (of course we stopped for every race as the horses are most definitely No 1 for me).
As a member of the Chairman’s Lounge, this is always my first stop and my home base however I saw very little of it yesterday. Craig and I visited the YPR event to say a quick hello. After a sip and a bite to eat, we headed to the members lawn which was by far the busiest place at the track. It helped that the gods were kind to the ATC and put on glorious sunshine for all to enjoy. A quick stop at the Moet & Chandon Pop Up Bar was a MUST. We stayed for a race and then it was off for out next experience.
A little look into the Belvedere Vodka marquee and a quick fashion illustration was a must for any girl.
There was a lot of laughter coming from the TAB stage so we decided we should get into the action. Who would have thought throwing a horse shoe was so difficult to place on a stick? Well, it was – but fun – and I did hit it most of the time just never got it to hang on. Thank you to TAB for great prizes. Of course I could not leave without getting on the microphone and announcing my tip for the next race – Invinzabeel – yep, I am a legend!!!!
Off to the theatre of the horse and into the enclosure to meet my good friends who own Invinzabeel and as their official photographer, I was happy to snap away for the whole of this race – bearing in mind I was very bias. This is what ownership of a horse is all about – good friends who love racing and come together to celebrate and scream their mighty horse to victory. This feeling is indescribable but it certainly knows how to put a smile on everyone’s face. To top off the experience, it was a much wanted visit to the Longines Winning Owners Room. A room I long for every time I go to the Chairman’s Lounge and today I was in there. Congrats to all the connections of Invinzabeel – what a fun and exciting experience.
So you think how on earth do you top that. I am not sure we topped it but it came close …. Craig ran into his dear friend, Phoebe, who invited us to the room she was hosting – Moet & Chandon Private Suite. WHAT!!! My favourite champagne and it was also the release of a new bubble – which was delicious. Drinking from the Moet & Chandon Goblet is the only way to go!!!! Thank you to all the gorgeous girls that were hosting that room. I do hope to see you in Zac & Tallulah (private joke).
You think I should just about go home now – but no, had to visit the Stables and meet some fabulous new people. I always light up when people want to hear all about Thoroughbred Events Australia and The Thoroughbred Club so I rambler on. As I looked through the crowd I saw one of my oldest and dear friends Carolina Vuoso. WHAT THE!!!!! Had to excuse myself and run over for some much needed hugs and kisses. So we caught up on goss and she introduced me to her crowd. It was definitely now time to go home. WHAT A DAY!!!!
Thank you to the Australian Turf Club for an unbelievable DAY OUT filled with amazing experiences.
Next week is the Cox Plate held at Mooney Valley in Melbourne but the ATC carnival continues. If you have not been to the races this carnival, I cannot stress enough how you must grab a friend and head out. There is something for everyone. It is not all about betting or the horses – a day at the races is about having fun and making the most of your day. Girls, get dressed up and head out.
