The picturesque drive to Nowra took around 2 hours from west Sydney as Thoroughbred Events Australia headed to Shoalhaven City Turf Club to host the Fashions on the Field (FOTF) which was coordinated by Brooke Strathan. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
Not only were we there for fashions but to also cheer on two of Sharon’s gorgeous horses trained by Lucy Keegan-Attard and Jason Attard.
On arrival, the sun was shining and the crowds were filling the small city turf club. Promptly after race three, judge’s Tenaea Lily from Pink Lily Millinery, WhenDogsGetWings illustration by Alison Sargent and Emmi, owner of Maya Organic Beauty took to their designated seats in the front row as ladies aged 35+ took to the stage to compete in the first category of the day, Elegant Lady sponsored by PONY.
The standards were high as the lovely ladies filled the length of the stage directly in front of the home straight. The winner was Nicola Snaith wearing a beautiful blue and black combo mixing textures like faux fur, leather and lace. Second came Sally Martin and third place was Nerida Hicks.
Next up was Fashionable Filly sponsored by WhenDogsGetWings. Bold colours and textures filled the stage as young ladies aged 18-34 proudly presented their creations. In third place was Shannon Wilson, closely followed by second place Kerrie Flentjar and winner Jessica Wilmer. Jessica wore a layered outfit completed with navy blue gloves and topped with a gold head piece.
Third up was Magnificent Millinery sponsored proudly by Pink Lily Millinery. Themes of leather and feathers featured in the majority of the autumnal headwear as around ten ladies competed for the main prize. Third place was Carmel Butler wearing her own design, second came Hayley Menzies and the winner was Kiersten Duke. Kiersten wore a black and red leather design by Allport Millinery.
Man of the Day sponsored by Glenn Henry Motorcycles was the next category to take place. After a few nudges of encouragement off their partners, the men crept up onto the stage! The ice was quickly broken as they showed off their best angles to the judges and displayed their pearly whites. In third place was Steve Hicks, followed by James Berle in second place and the winner was Mr Andrew Snaith. Andrews look featured matching black accessories such as a bow tie, scarf and pocket square.
Last but not least was the Coolest Couple category sponsored by Maya Organic Beauty & Therapy. Two young lads bound in matching Hawaiian flower garlands proudly took the stage as other matching couples followed, smiling from ear to ear. Third place was awarded to Werner and Margaret Roth who teamed up in a red and black matching combo. Second came Kyle Williams and Matilda Hancock wearing all black and white matching pant suits which Matilda topped off with bold red lipstick. The winners on the day were Elvan, Jayda and Gideon Dhinakaran. Mother, Father and tiny tot daughter all wore gorgeous matching navy and red outfits scoring them plenty of ‘aww’s’ from the crowd as well as first prize from the judges.
Overall the Fashions on the Field was a great success, with over $10,000 worth of prizes being awarded it was certainly not one to miss! We would like to thank Sharon Lenton for organising and presenting the FOTF on the day on behalf of Thoroughbred Events Australia and to Brooke Strahan whom without her extremely professional skills the day just wouldn’t have been the same without.
